Last year, they called it a losing spree.
This year, Agronomy wrote a different story.
The Department of Agronomy recorded a significant improvement at Clash of Titans 2.0, climbing from last place in the maiden edition to second place in this year's competition.
The event, presented by The Vocal Knights Literary and Debating Society, Faculty of Agriculture, held on Wednesday, 8th April, 2026, at the Large Lecture Theatre, University of Ibadan. Five departments competed, each represented by one speaker.
Agronomy was represented by Popoola Taiwo, who spoke in support of the motion: "Should false allegation receive same punishment as convicted rape?" She delivered her speech at 1:48pm, stating that "rape violates the body."
At the end of the competition, Agronomy secured 69%, placing second behind Crop Protection and Environmental Biology, who won with 73.5%. Agricultural Extension and Rural Development came third with 63.25%, while last year's champions, Animal Science, fell to fourth with 58.5%. Agricultural Economics finished fifth with 46.75%.
This result marks a three place improvement for Agronomy, who finished last (5th) in the 2025 maiden edition of Clash of Titans.
