 Oryza Sativa

Of the family Poaceae,

rice and its brethren are

yet the bulk of our food.

Zea mays, is also a brother,

and of course, rice could be a perennial.

Sativa is the specie most common

all the way from India it came,

though the Oryza barthii was the progenitor of

indigenous Oryza glaberimma.

Vast lands in Indonesia and Thailand

are the world's source of Oryza sativa.
