     Nigeria hoisted her green-white-green flag on 1st October, 1960 in the place of Union Jack and the self-rule started and a new nation took its birth. Sixty five years on, and that legendary day acts as a reminder of the hardship, sacrifice and aspirations that gave birth to the most populous African nation.      Nigeria at 65 is resiliency. The country, even with the tempests of political unrest, economic recessions, insecurity, and social issues, remains on its feet due to the sheer force of determination of her people. In sports and entertainment, technology, academic worlds and other sectors, Nigerians have always demonstrated that we are great.         However, sober reflection is also required to achieve this milestone. The question is; have we really fulfilled the promise of independence? Have we made a nation where justice, equity and prosperity prevail among all the people?                 Gradually, we are almost approaching the end of the lecture weeks, as today marks the beginning of the sixth week of the eleven weeks of lecture.     What comes to your mind when you think of Agriculture? Agriculture is beyond the concept of crops and animals. It has root in almost all disciplines, even those that are not science-based e.g Sociology, Economics, Accounting, Government, and so on.     Apart from the activities on the field, in the screenhouse, in the greenhouse, in the laboratory, and other related locations, a little knowledge of sociology is required to interact with the members of the society, in communicating the results of the activities from these locations to them.     Also, when researchers in Agriculture want to get information from farmers, especially rural farmers, or enlighten them to adopt some new innovations or technologies, there are some sociological steps to follow, to gain their attention and get the best result.      Government comes into play in Agriculture, because all sectors of a country are governed by one government policy or the other, to ensu...

          "Everyone should have a to-do list," said Adeboye, a 200-level student, when he was narrating his first-year experience as a University student to a fresher. Just like how everyone gets excited about starting a new academic journey in a University, Adeboye's case was not an exception.        From the day he accepted the admission on his JAMB CAPS, he had started every preparation he deemed fit for the new experience, in his academic pursuit, as the resumption day was approaching - "proper preparation prevents poor performance."       However, what he was ignorant of preparing for, was how to effectively manage his time in the new environment, where freedom is unlimited and an individual can choose whatever he or she wants to do with the freedom they have in the University.        The situation changed for the better when he stumbled upon a jotter of one of his course mates, towards their final days...

Not only do the students of the University of Ibadan achieve excellence by their academic accomplishments, they also excel in leadership and extracurricular activities, like literary and debating, writing and so on. The well known JAW WAR is the most observed speech event in the University, which formally begins today, 16th September, 2025.  This esteemed competition is a gathering of students of the different halls of residence, both male and female, and students of different faculties in the University. Thursday 18th September, 2025, will be a day to remember as the Faculty of Agriculture, the greatest of all faculties, is set to compete with the Faculty of Dentistry, in the contest, and that will surely be thrilling. Though the tradition of JAW WAR is an annual battle of words, it is also a stage to demonstrate intellect, wit, and the unconquerable spirit of UItes.  STAND UP! SPEAK UP! SHUT UP!       The vision team, led by Adaolowo Kenry has remained committed to promoting the welfare of AGY students, by launching  programs designed to ease their burdens. The introduction of AGY Printing to AGY Students is one of the recent initiatives, and also a first-of-its-kind.      This project, commencing today(15th September, 2025), is particularly for AGY students, to reduce the high cost of printing, and the stress of having to get their documents printed in far distant places.       The printing will be done every day, between 1-2 PM, and the students may send their documents to any of the AGY executives beforehand, for the necessity to be done upon the provision of power.      The price has been set as - N15 per front page, and N20 per front and back page. The Vision Team has shown consideration for the students with this low cost, especially at a time when most are struggling with escalating costs.   ...

And Allamanda smells very nice, I'd take the yellow, purple and white ones, and the pinkish blush of a flower I can't recognise. They warm my heart and I look again more than once. This simply shows how highly rated Monday is, among the students of the University of Ibadan. For many of these students, Monday is beyond the first day of lectures—it is the unofficial reset button to the school environment,  after a weekend of rest, partying, and other activities.     Monday comes with new energy, and a renewed resolution to “do better” in the new week. It is the unavoidable opening to other lecture days. Unlike other lecture days with reduced stress levels, especially Fridays when students' minds are already on weekend flex, Monday sets the tone.     It has been projected as the day that decides whether the week will run smoothly, or otherwise.  If it is started right with a focused lecture, an assignment completed, or even just getting to class at the right time, ...

To a significant number of the students, it also includes finding the means that will cover food, data, and sometimes tuition expenses.    The hairstylists on campus just need hair making materials and their magical hands, to make a woman more beautiful, through several hairstyles that fit the individuals' aesthetics.   There are chefs, bakers, and the likes, who serve justice to taste buds. They are the life savers on campus. Unless you have placed your small chops or food orders from any of them, then you are not a typical Nigerian university student.   The other category is the fashion hustlers.
