After receiving all the exhaustive lectures for the day, Daniel headed towards his hall of residence with a couple of his friends. Being overly bitten by hunger, he decided to think of what to eat.

Ever since he resumed for the session, he had been finding it hard to adopt good feeding habits. On many occasions, he would always visit a cafeteria and eat his first food for the day at about 1pm or thereabout during the break. 





On this particular day, he had only taken a bottle of Fanta since morning. Now inside his room, he was having a hard time  deciding what to eat. Finally, he decided to take gaari so his brain could think properly of what to eat later.


He left his room for one of the groceries store in the hall and returned with groundnut and sugar to drink his gaari. As  expected, he dozed off after devouring the bowl of gaari. 

Waking up early to meet up for class, waking up in the middle of the night to read, fetching water, praying for the power supply to be restored, and so on,  were the lifestyles of students on public campuses. 

It is however commendable, that notwithstanding the unpalatable conditions in school, Daniel always saw to it that he remained diligent. He  always reminded himself of his business in the school and would not be deterred by anything. 

Waking up from his sleep by the loud sound of a scheduled alarm. He sat on the bed, still sleepy, he checked the time and alas, he had already slept for an hour. It’s 8pm already, he brought out his to-do list for day and saw that there were many things yet undone.

This was the part that annoyed him the most. Immediately, anxiety started setting in his heart. He wondered if he would be able to do anything, he was so overwhelmed with worry. He then remembered he had a test to write the following day. He checked the to-do list again and decided to cancel out somethings. 


He took his books and vanished into the reading room. He would never forget his favourite quote “The world won’t take excuses from me.”

He took his phone, put it in a flight mode to avoid distractions.  While reading, he  wasn’t surprised he dozed off countless times as he was extremely tired. Nevertheless, he persisted in reading and read for quite a while. At last, he was happy he had prepared for the test. He wrote his test the following day and was satisfied with the answers he provided for the questions. 

That was always the norm for him he wouldn’t write any test unprepared. He was intentional about his grades. He would not mind cancelling out unnecessary pleasures. Priority was always the goal for him.

She  is a lecturer at the Soil Chemistry Unit, whose rich knowledge and research work remain an inspiration among the students. Dr Julius Orimoloye of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning Unit has also been promoted to Professor. His promotion is a reward of his years of dedication, scholarly work, and benefitting the department and the university community. AGRONOMY: A department of Winners

  Earlier today, 7th of November, 2025, Agronomy students experienced multiple wins in the Literary and Debating Organization for the Faculty of Agriculture, that is, the Vocal Knights Literary and Debating Society. The representatives of the department, Najimdeen Rabiu Ayomide (a 300-level Soil Resources Management Unit student) and Popoola Taiwo Abidat (a 200-level Soil Resources Management Unit student), emerged second position with 72.92% at Agri-Speak 3.0, organized by the Vocal Knights Literary and Debating Society. The Deputy Knight Commander of the Vocal Knights Literary and Debating Society, Kayode Grace from the Agronomy Department (a 500-level student of the Crop and Horticultural Sciences Unit), handed the position over to another person today. Popoola Taiwo Abidat will be the Deputy Knight Commander for the upcoming session.
